Hands down the best fried chicken in New Orleans. As a professional chef I have been coast to coast and I’ve eatin fried chicken in every parish in Louisiana and they are just doing it better than everyone else when it comes to fried chicken. Their sides are decent but you fixin to need some hot sauce for the Mac n cheese. They been around a long time and they cook amazing food. You cannot beat the fried chicken. Service takes time because they are cooking real food ya hurd me. Sometimes they got a lil attitude on them but I’m down wit it. Love this place. The red beans could use some smoked sausage added to them but they are really good and creamy and full of flavor too.

Great variety of food options and sizes to choose from. Plenty of space in the inside and a fridge to get drinks on the side of the line. Great place to get rid of hunger.

McKenzie’s Chicken-in-a-Box is pure nostalgia for me. This is a place I went to as a child, and every time I visit New Orleans, it’s a must-stop. I always find myself telling the stories—getting bags of chicken necks and backs, enjoying every bite, and remembering when they even had donuts, especially those buttermilk drops. This time, I came with my son and my grandchildren, sharing those memories with them, and I’m happy to say it did not disappoint. We had the chicken, fries, red beans, and buns, and everything was delicious—just like I remembered. Same atmosphere, same feel, and that comforting, familiar taste that brings you right back. A true New Orleans classic that continues to deliver.

McKenzie's use to be a bakery as well as selling chicken in a box. As of 2day, no more bakery mostly chicken, seafood, po-boys. Chicken is as good as ever & po-boys are delish. Take-out only!

Came here for lunch, ordered the whole chicken and side of fries, then went to the lakefront and devoured the delicious chicken like savages! The food was fresh and tasty. The staff were hustling and bustling to get orders out and moving efficiently to get customers in and out. Very good service here.

I took my mom there to pick up some fried chicken for lunch on a Friday after a friend told us about it. The next Monday she called up and asked me to bring her more of that amazing chicken. There's usually a line, so it's not a secret.
